Independent experts

Coaches first

SEO for coaches and independent experts

In short

When someone recommends you, the person they told looks you up before they call. More and more often they ask ChatGPT as well as Google. We work on what they find, and each month we show you what it says.

This is SEO for coaches and other independent experts. It is for executive coaches first, and for consultants, advisers, trainers and fractional executives who run their business alone or with up to four people. Your clients come mostly through referrals, and they check before they hire.

After the referral

The check after the referral.

Referrals still bring most of the work. In a 2024 survey by Consulting Success, more than half of consultants said referrals bring 60% or more of their business, and 70% said their website brings them no leads or calls in a month.

So we don't ask your site to replace referrals. We work on the check that follows one. In a 2015 study by Hinge, a marketing firm for professional services, 81.5% of buyers had been referred by someone who was not a client, and 51.9% had ruled out a referred provider before ever talking to them. Unclear services, the wrong expertise and weak websites were among the reasons they gave.

That check now runs through ChatGPT too. In January 2025, Farah Hussain, a coach for executive women of colour, posted on LinkedIn what a new prospect had told her: “I asked ChatGPT. Entered my criteria for a coach, and it gave me 3 options. You were one of them.” She traced it to her name sitting next to “coach” and her niche in 20 LinkedIn posts, 2 LinkedIn articles, her website, 3 conference bios and a Forbes article.

What they find

Your capture asks ChatGPT two sets of questions, three times each, in your city.

When a client asks for someone like you

Three questions from your line of work, such as “I was just promoted to VP and now I manage people who used to be my peers. Who is a good executive coach in Toronto for a newly promoted VP?” We show whether you were named, who was named instead, which pages the answers read, and where you stand on Google for the same search.

When someone asks about you by name

Three questions about you. We show whether the answers recognised you, how they described you, what they got wrong, which pages they used and whether a namesake got in the way, plus Google for “[your name] [your role]”.

The first lines of your capture read like this, with your data in the brackets:

grizaillecapture · [date], [city]

Named in [x] of 9 answers.

[another coach] was named most, in [n] of the 9.

Recognised in [k] of 9 answers when asked about by name. Described as “[the one-line description the answers gave]”. Wrong: [a fact], in [n] answers.

Your capture is free and private. Ask for it here.

Who gets named

ChatGPT names people as well as firms, when the question leaves room for them.

In our September capture for Toronto, the question about strategy consultants for companies with fewer than 200 employees named 15 firms, none of them national or global. Six were named in all three answers, among them two practices built around one person's name. Another question named an independent consultant, cited from a page written for exactly that question.

Google names people for some roles and not others. On 2026-09-25, page one for “executive coach toronto”, location set to Toronto, held three independent coaches' own sites among its ten results. For “management consultant toronto” and “HR consultant toronto” it held none; firms, directories and job boards held most of the places. For a coach, the role and the city can be won on Google. For a consultant, we work on the problem and the niche.

What we do

Your name, your pages, your profiles, in the order that counts.

  1. Your own site says who you are: you, the work, for whom, where, and your credentials. A page for each service or problem, answers to the questions your clients ask, and articles under your name, written from our monthly call.
  2. Every profile says the same thing: LinkedIn, your Instagram bio, your ICF or association profile, podcast and speaker pages, book pages. One spelling of your name, one description, one set of credentials. This is the pattern Farah Hussain traced.
  3. Person schema on your site, linking every profile, and an llms.txt file that describes you.
  4. Directories and association finders: ICF's Find a Coach, CMC-Canada's Find a CMC, the CRHA, HRPA and CPHR registers, CAPS for speakers, and editorial lists that take requests. Never a paid “top 10”.
  5. Podcasts, talks and lists in your name. Each pitch is reported with its outcome, and a placement counts once it is published.
  6. Reviews and testimonials, quoted word for word.
  7. Your monthly capture, with your name in it, so you see what changed.

We work beside your developer and designer. You keep them; we do the search and AI-visibility layer.

Your time

Thirty minutes a month: one call with Montacer.

That call is also the interview for your monthly piece. At most one question a week from us. A weekly note every Thursday, five lines: what shipped, with links, what's next, and the one thing we need, if any. Anything we send goes live five business days later unless you tell us otherwise.

A client like you

Vanessa Kay runs The Kay Media in Toronto on her own. ChatGPT names it first in 15 of 15 answers.

She works with a bench of freelancers. The Moroccan developers she already worked with told her Morocco had good SEO agencies. She found us through Google and ChatGPT and signed with Maroc SEO in July 2026.

On 2026-09-25 we asked ChatGPT five questions her clients ask, three times each, with web search on. All 15 answers named The Kay Media first, all 15 cited her site, and 9 named Vanessa herself. On Google Canada, 8 of the 10 terms in her contract were on the first page by 2026-09-22, five of them at #1, captured with the location set to Toronto. In ten weeks her site gained 33 articles, 6 commercial pages, a pillar guide, a budget calculator and a rebuilt homepage, and she received 42 dated reports. In our first two days we brought her site back online and cleaned a live compromise.

Questions

My clients come from referrals. Why would I need SEO?

Keep the referrals. When someone is told about you, they look you up before they call, on Google and more and more in ChatGPT. We work on what they find.

I don't have time for content.

You won't write. You give us 30 minutes a month on a call, and we turn it into a page in your voice. You approve it, or it goes live after five business days.

Will ChatGPT recommend me?

Nobody can promise that, and we don't. We ask it every month, three times per question, in your city, and show you the answers. If it declines to name individuals in your line of work, your capture shows that too.

Instagram and LinkedIn already work for me.

Keep posting; that's where people meet you. When someone who heard about you asks Google or ChatGPT, a feed rarely answers. We turn what you already say into pages that can be found and quoted, under your name.

I already have a developer.

Keep them. We work beside your developer and designer, as we do beside Vanessa's own freelancers in Toronto.

Is this only for coaches?

No. Coaches come first because Google already shows independent coaches' own sites for searches like “executive coach toronto”. Consultants, advisers, trainers and fractional executives work the same way; we pick the questions and terms for your field.

Ask for your capture. It's free and private.
